    Education Required: Bachelors in Education, TEFL Certification
    Minimum Teaching Experience: 3 years of teaching experience

    The ESL (English Second Language) Teacher works with learners to help them improve their reading skills. The Teacher addresses the specific needs of particular children when regular classroom instruction is not sufficient. The English Second Language Teacher reports to the Middle School and High School Principals.

    ESL Teacher Responsibilities

    We are looking to employ a qualified ESL (English as a Second Language) to teach learners from different backgrounds and cultures. The ESL teacher will be responsible for planning lessons and activities, adopting a creative approach, and encouraging and motivating learners to learn. To be a successful ESL teacher, you should be able to create an environment that is conducive to learning and encourage learners to interact with each other to improve their English skills.

    • ● Conducting activities and lessons based on ESL teaching methodologies; aligned with the school curriculum where possible
    • ● Encouraging and engaging learners to speak in English.
    • ● Motivating learners and using humor to induce a pleasant learning environment.
    • ● Maximizing learners’ talk time through oral tests and presentations.
    • ● Displaying excellent classroom management.
    • ● Keeping accurate records of learner performance.
    • ● Communicating with the Department Head or Principal, as needed.
    • ● Maintaining standardized guidelines.
    • ● Create lesson plans
    • ● Track learner progress
    • ● Offer extra lessons to struggling learners
    • ● Follow school guidelines and regulations
    • ● Ensure that every learner is treated fairly
    • ● Report progress of learner to parents
    • ● Report classroom progress to Learning Support Coordinator
    • ● Encourage learners to practice English outside of the classroom

    Required Skills

    • ● Excellent command of the English language.
    • ● Neutral English accent.
    • ● Proficient in all google workspace and other technological applications.
    • ● Ability to teach learners of all ages and from different backgrounds.
    • ● Ability to work after-hours, on weekends, and on public holidays, as required.
    • ● Display patience and cultural awareness.
    • ● Incredible interpersonal skills
    • ● Ability to create personalized lesson plans
    • ● Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of different people
    • ● Ability to keep records of learner progress
    • ● Awareness of different learning needs for learners
    • ● Great patience to work with learners
    • ● Open-minded connecting with learners from all walks of life
