    Senior IT Administrator

    Purpose of the role:

    This role supports the smooth running of the school applications and infrastructure and is individually accountable for achieving results through the team efforts. The main purpose includes designing, configuring, installing, maintaining, and repairing network systems, subsystems and servers; overseeing the computer/server room operation and environment; providing information, direction and/or recommendations regarding network installations and configurations including television, intercom, telephone and wireless systems; resolving network operational issues; and providing technical support to staff and IT students.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement the GHA IT strategy and related plans.
    • Install, configure and maintain network devices and security, Internet, wireless and remote access services in accordance with the established GHA service level guidelines.
    • Analyze, Define, Evaluate and implement tools to improve the quality and effectiveness monitoring/ administration tasks and enhance security levels.
    • Respond to customer service/helpdesk incident requests in a manner with IT service level guidelines.
    • Provide analysis, problem definition and business solutions for the individual and their specific problems and requests.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot system problems and coordinate with the team to provide quick resolutions.
    • Provides thought leadership (operational and tactical focus) in area of responsibility.
    • Responsible for infrastructure management and IT Contracts Management.
    Responsible for change management around IT implementations and upgrades and supports the running of all school applications and Infrastructure.
    • Provides first-line standby / support for teachers and students when school is in session and creates temporary fixes within systems to achieve Service Level Agreements.
    • Provides technical advice and consultation to the business and identifies and implements cost saving / optimisation initiatives.
    • Participates in and co-ordinates systems handover process.
    • Communicates effectively regarding support related activities and participates in software and/or hardware upgrades.
    • Pro-actively monitors Equipment procurement and stock management.
    • Leads others in technical initiatives across platforms/environments for example: cost saving, timing
    Quality Assurance within role, checks work of others.
    • Providing password resets for staff and students on campus, including hardware support, Cabling and moving equipment.
    • Management of Peripherals including printers, projectors, webcams & sound systems while maintaining accurate records and stock controls.
    • Ensure all IT related license renewals are updated including;-Quick school, G-suite, etc

    Competencies: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    Appropriate IT qualification. Bachelors in Information Technology with 5-6 years practical technical support experience managing IT infrastructure with a broader knowledge across a variety of IT platforms in a school setting will be an added advantage.

    In-depth working knowledge of both network device administration/ configuration and network design as well as extensive knowledge of both client and server operating systems as well as application level environments

    The following knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training

    • • Knowledge of personal computers and G-suite based systems and a wide range of computer software products.
    • • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Windows 2016 server, Cisco routers and firewalls, G-suite.
    • • Knowledge of installation and configuration of computer hardware, operating systems and software applications.
    • • Knowledge and understanding of Network topologies.
    • • Ability to express technically intensive concepts to lay users (verbally and/or in writing) effectively in one-on-one as well as group settings.
    • • Ability to initiate action, Gaining Commitment, quick thinking skills and decision Making, Thinking Skills.
    • • Ability to conduct IT training for end users.
    • • Ability to respond promptly in a professional manner.
    • • Ability to ensure high level of quality and customer service and use of resources to meet standards.
    • • Ability to facilitate appropriate information flow amongst staff.
    • • Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
    • • Ability to interpret and present information with influence and impact.
