    Learn Work Develop (LWD) is a non-governmental organization operating in Rwanda, committed to serving and improving the lives of women, youth and children. As far as the role of bicycle in social change is concerned, LWD is recruiting the staff who will work for Bike for the Future Project, funded by Plan International Rwanda and partners; note that the staff will be onboarded after receiving the funds.

    1. Project Lead (1)

    Job Location: Kigali, Rwanda,

    The Project Lead will oversee and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring efficiency and satisfaction. Responsibilities at this position include planning and developing project ideas, leading teams, monitoring progress, solving issues, managing budgets, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction, and evaluating project performance.

    Other responsibilities are:

    • • Plan and Develop the Project Idea: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and participants to define project concepts, create a detailed project plan, establish project scope, identify risks, and assign tasks to team members.
    • • Create and Lead Dream Team: Assemble and manage a high-performing team capable of meeting expectations of participants. Provide guidance, training, and coaching to team members, fostering open communication, building relationships, and motivating the team.
    • • Monitor Project Progress and Set Deadlines: Maintain organization and follow-through by tracking project timelines, ensuring task completion within designated timeframes, anticipating and addressing any delays or changes in Participants’ requirements.
    • • Solve Issues That Arise: Proactively identify and address project issues, exercising adaptability and problem-solving skills to maintain control and minimize disruptions. Develop strategies to mitigate scope creep, ensuring project deliverables align with the defined scope, budget, and timeline.
    • • Manage the Money: Take charge of budget management, ensuring cost-efficient project execution and value for money. Maintain transparency and provide realistic cost estimates to participants, monitoring expenses and ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
    • • Ensure Stakeholder Satisfaction: Foster strong relationships with project participants, maintaining open lines of communication, providing regular updates, and addressing any concerns or changes that may arise during the project timeline.
    • • Evaluate Project Performance: Assess project efficiency and effectiveness upon completion, analyzing data collected throughout the process. Identify areas for improvement, address shortcomings, and develop strategies to enhance future project outcomes. Recognize and reward team members for exceptional performance.
    • • Reporting: Ensure quality narrative and financial reports of LWD are submitted in timeline, including the reports requested by the Government Institutions.

    Qualifications

    • • Master’s degree with 2 years experience or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years work experience in Management, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Statistics or equivalent.
    • • Demonstrated experience in developing comprehensive M&E systems and implementing grant-funded projects
    • • Excellent knowledge of program design, resource mobilization, MERL methods
    • • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term workplans and work collaboratively with programmatic stakeholders in project implementation, adapt program priorities based on available evidence, inspire teamwork, and efficiently achieve results
    • • Excellent written and verbal communications, with a demonstrated capacity to synthesize data into an effective presentation of results for a variety of audiences
    • • Exceptional ability to work independently and to develop and execute plans to achieve specified impact with limited guidance and oversight
    • • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make linkages between interventions/programs
    • • Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure and set priorities
    • • Applied research experience, including designing impact evaluations, qualitative assessments and/or operational research projects in resource-constrained settings
    • • Computer literacy to a high standard in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Internet, etc.)

    2. Field Officer (2)

    Job Location: Bugesera (1) and Gatsibo (1) Districts
    .
    The Field Officer will pro actively contribute to the successful implementation of Bikes for Future project at community level in a District of operations, and will facilitate the work with local stakeholders including the government authorities from the Village to the District levels, private sector members, as well as the sports clubs. They will be first responders and will adequately act and report to LWD’s Project Lead.

    Responsibilities

    • • Works at a sub-national level, ensuring the (quality of the) service delivery conform procedures and guidelines of LWD and ensures timelines and project standards are met.
    • • Cultivate positive relationships with the relevant governmental bodies by arranging meetings and organise joint field activities and facilitate training and capacity building sessions at the grassroots level.
    • • Preparing meetings and ensures that appropriate governmental bodies are involved.
    • • Plays a facilitating role in the monitoring data collection activities done by LWD and will react to issues raised in the operational area.
    • • Support adolescents and young people at risk, especially girls to access vocational training available at the TVET and bike repair.
    • • Organize Trainings of adolescent girls and young women on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and life skills
    • • Support adolescent and young people to start Income Generating Activities (eg: opening a bicycle shop, a repair store, etc.)
    • • Facilitate identification of community volunteers (Aunties and elder sisters), and supervise safe space activities in the community
    • • Organize awareness campaigns and youths forums at community level all related to implementation of Bike for Future
    • • Cascading Knowledge to girls and young women during sport classes/teams on gender equality, GBV prevention, safeguarding, and SRHR
    • • Implementing other project’s planned activities

    Qualifications

    • • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (STEM, Tourism, Bicycle mechanics Economics, Management) with relevant experience of minimum 5 years.
    • • Effective communication with different stakeholder and project participants, making sure ideas and essence are understood by the audiences.
    • • Demonstrate ability to structure and plan activities to ensure results are met, and to adequately deal with adversity in a rational and timely manner.
    • • Show passion and enthusiasm about youth empowerment through STEM, Sports and SRHR.
    • • Relevant experience in working and dealing with community members and/or clients
    • • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda as well as computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Internet, etc.)
    • • Build and maintain relationships with project beneficiaries and support staff.
    • • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements through proactive learning.
    • • Passionate in cycling and supporting the youths, women and children
    • • Exceptional supervision and relationship-building capabilities.
