We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Advisor I, Nutrition in Kigali, Rwanda

    Position Description:

    Technical Advisor I, Nutrition will be a senior level member of the project team and will work with the private agricultural sector, government, regional and local partners, non-governmental organizations, community organizations, and others to design, implement and monitor nutrition behavior change strategies to improve nutrition outcomes.

    The Technical Advisor I, Nutrition provides nutrition technical and scientific leadership to those designing and implementing technical strategies, programs or tools that increase dietary diversity among pregnant and lactating women, and children. Provides technical advice based upon expertise and knowledge of evidence-based methods and strategies, current practice, and established operational and research standards to ensure quality and rigorous design of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions. Provides guidance to ensure that program implementation adheres to appropriate technical standards and guidelines and that programs are technically sound.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Provides technical assistance, direction, and support related to the development and implementation of strategies to increase dietary diversity and improve nutrition in all phases from formative research through design, implementation, and evaluation.
    Responds to the specified deliverables and goals of contracts and grant agreements, ensuring achievements in a timely manner and in full support and compliance with FHI 360 contractual agreement.
    Provides technical leadership in the development and implementation of work plans and related activities. Drafts quarterly and annual reports, and all other reporting requirements as needed.
    Liaises with and manages partner organizations involved in country program activities and assists in the implementation of project activities.
    Minimum Requirements:

    5-10 years of experience in implementing and managing international health/development, nutrition programs, and projects in developing countries, with experience working in Rwanda.

    Specific Knowledge Requirements:

    • Strong understanding of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programming, including promotion of optimal dietary and feeding practices
    • Knowledge of evidence-based, innovative, and practical solutions to nutrition in developing countries.
    • Field experience in developing and implementing nutrition and programs in Rwanda and/or other central African that have demonstrated impact, at scale.
    • Understanding of widely accepted formative research, pretesting, and monitoring and evaluation methodologies of nutrition interventions.
    • Demonstrated strong technical, programming, and management skills.
    • Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
    • Excellent oral/written communication skills in, French and one or more local languages. Fluency in English a plus
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills, and experience working in collaboration with the private sector, government, partners, donors, and NGOs.
    • Ability to set priorities while multi-tasking and meet deadlines.
