    IMBARAGA, a National Non-Governmental Organization, in partnership with International Alert is implementing a project titled FARMERS’ VOICE PROJECT funded by EU Commission in Rwanda. The project overall objective is to contribute to the reduction of poverty and strengthened food security by promoting farmer centred policies through enhanced civil society and farmers’ organizations engagement in Rwanda. The project is targeting seven (7) Districts of four provinces of Rwanda.

    IMBARAGA is seeking for dynamic and motivated Rwandan Citizens to fill the following position:

    Job Description

    Reporting to the Program Manager at the national level, the District Field Officer (DFO) will implement and monitor all agricultural activities, development interventions and work hand in hand with the existing local CSOs and Farmers’ Organizations, and all decentralized entities at the District level. All the District Field Officers will be based in their zones of operations, one DFO will be responsible for implementing activities in Rutsiro and Rubavu, the second one will work in Rulindo and Burera, the third DFO will work in Kayonza and Gatsibo, and the last one will be based in Ruhango.

      Responsible for ensuring smooth implementation and the completion of project activities in adherence to the proposed work plan;
      Ensure that project related information is availed to the District teams and is shared widely within communities and the existing forums such as JADF and DPEM and TWIGIRE MUHINZI Structure;
      Conduct farmers and farmer groups, unions of cooperatives need assessment at the grass root levels including vulnerable groups ;and through consultative meetings prioritize the issues to be advocated for;
      Organize coaching sessions to farmers’ organizations to engage with local authorities and development partners at District, sector and Cell levels and support them advocate for their rights and interests;
      Identify opportunities to engage youth and women in the project activities and build the confidence and capacity of young people and women as leaders;
      Monitor and document progress of project activities against agreed indicators, and the M&E plan;
      Represent IMBARAGA in all strategic meetings organized at the District level, and strengthen relationship with government officials to maximize collaboration;

    Job profile

      Bachelor’s or equivalent in Sociology, Rural development, Development Studies, Agriculture development or related field;
      3-5 years of experience of agricultural extension, agricultural production and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, project management;
      Experience and knowledge of civil society sector in Rwanda;
      Experience and understanding of the agriculture and farming sectors in Rwanda;
      Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with wide range of stakeholders both verbally and in writing;
      Demonstrated training capacity using adult based learning techniques;
      Strong understanding of gender equality and human rights-based principles and approaches;
      Demonstrated ability to collaborate, willingness to innovate and ability to think systematically;
      Proven experience in managing multiple and competing tasks while maintaining quality of deliverables within deadlines;
      Willing to be able to travel within district area;
      Possessing a motorcycle driving license would be a proven advantage;
      Fluent in Kinyarwanda, advanced level of English, and French
